Children film festival announces lineups

The 30th edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults (IFFCY) held in historic Iranian city of Isfahan has announced its lineups for animation as well as short and mid-length films competitions.

The selection committee selected seven animated films, including ‘The Boy and the Beast’ by Mamoru Hosoda as well as ‘Chieri and Cherry’ by Makoto Nakamura from Japan, ‘Long Way North’ by Remi Chaye from France, ‘Hero Quest’ by Maksim Fadeev from Russia and ‘Release from Heaven’ by Ali Nouri-Oskoui.

The committee also picked 18 films for the short and mid-length section. ‘Rhodes Learns from the Things’ by Alex Pop from Canada, ‘Amelia’s Closet’ by Halima Lucas from the US, ‘Meeting Superman’ by Hannah Stockmann from Germany and ‘Blank Squares’ by Rebecca Figenschau from Norway are among the shorts and mid-lengths.

The International Film Festival for Children and Young Adults is organized annually by the Farabi Cinema Foundation in affiliation with the Iranian Organization of Cinema and Audiovisual Affairs.

It is an event that celebrates films made for children and youth. The festival supports emerging filmmakers with innovative cinematic visions and ideas. It is also an event that serves as a platform for professionals to come together and exchange ideas.

The 30th edition of IFFCY will be held from June 30 to July 6, 2017 in the Iranian city of Isfahan.
